My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.~ Yeshua in John 10:27
What does it mean to “follow” Yeshua? We know that He lived a sinless life so that He could be our spotless Lamb sacrifice. Could He mean that we are to follow Him in doing/obeying His Father’s commandments?
Yeshua tells us in Matt 11:29-30 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Is He not saying to take His same yoke upon us? His yoke of obedience to the Father? His way of showing the Father His unfailing love? He says “…take up your cross and follow Me.” Isn’t His yoke the same as our cross? What did He say the greatest/first commandment is? “Hear, O Israel, YHVH our Eloheim, YHVH is one. And you shall love את YHVH Elohecha with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” – Mar 12:29-30 (paraphrased) Deut 6:4-5
He loved the Father completely with every cell in His body and He showed Him by His obedience. That was proof of His love. He certainly didn’t follow the commandments to earn His salvation! Obedience is His act of pure love, as it should be ours.
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.~ Yeshua in Matt 10:38
One of the very last things Yeshua tells us, specifically our generation, is in Rev 22:14. He says: “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.” He says this 20+ years AFTER Paul is dead! Those with ears to hear, let them hear!
May you be counted worthy to be called, protected and fed (Rev 12:6) during this tribulation.
Shalom, b’shem Yeshua haMashiach.
