Think turkey sausage cooked and sprinkled with crushed red pepper flakes, Monterey jack and Colby cheese, mayonnaise, and a packet of ranch dressing mix, dolloped into a raw wonton and cooked till crispy.
My brother’s original recipe was called “dirty diapers”. The filling was the same but you filled canned crescent roll wedges instead of wontons. The thought of eating dirty diapers was a bit of a turn-off for me, but that’s my brother’s humor. 🤪
So here’s the recipe typed out:
- 2 pkgs wonton skins (12 oz each)
- 2 lbs. turkey or soy sausage (hot if you want it)
- 2 cups mayonnaise
- 1 packet of dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
- 4 cups grated cheddar & Colby cheese (or Monterey jack/Colby cheese)
- crushed red pepper flakes to taste (optional)
Make sure you cook the sausage thoroughly first, adding the crushed red pepper if you want it. While your sausage is cooking, grate your cheese and preheat your oven to 350°. Add your grated cheese to a large mixing bowl. Add your package of dry ranch dressing. Add your mayonnaise. Once your sausage is cooked through, drain it and add it to your other ingredients. Mix well. Now comes the tedious part. If you want the flower type wontons it is best to use a mini muffin tin. If you want the envelope looking wontons, just use a cookie sheet. Take one wonton skin in your hand and put about a generous teaspoon full in the middle of it. Either fold in the corners envelope style or fold up and place in the muffin tin. Cook those babies at least 10 minutes until golden brown but don’t burn them. 😉
Well, thanks for stopping by! I know for you Austrians, this snow is pathetic, but I’ve been missing snow terribly so forgive my giddy excitement. 😘❄️☃️
Until next time… Shalom y’all!
